" Play it again, Sam " is a misquote from Ilsa Lund (Ingrid Bergman), often wrongly associated with Humphrey Bogart in the role of Richard Blaine, for Sam (played by Dooley Wilson): "Play it once, Sam" from the 1942 film Casablanca . It has been described as a "traditional quote", which means "a little wrong quotation that remains close enough to the original to reach the currency". The error was later used as a drama title by Woody Allen, and in other films, enhancing the phrase excellence.
