The game is fully animated and designed for Windows Aero with a glass-like look. The game features photorealistic boards that can be played in 3D, and themes available for chess and board pieces. It displays the 3D capabilities of Vista.
Gameplay
The game can be played with mouse and keyboard or gamepad controller for Windows. It can also be played through Windows Media Center, using the remote control provided with TV Tuner Cards, and certain laptops as well.
On each player's turn, Chess Titans show the last step made by the opponent. Players can also click on a chess piece to highlight all valid movements for that part. These features can be turned off in the Options dialog box.
Player vs. computer
Chess Titans have ten difficulty levels, which can be selected from the Options dialog box. Players can also choose whether to play as black or white. When playing against the computer for the first time, the player is asked to choose the initial level of difficulty Beginner (level 2), Intermediate (level 5), or Advanced (level 8).
Chess Titans keeps a record of how many games have been won, pulled, and lost by the computer at every difficulty level.
Player vs. players
In a two-player game, the chessboard automatically turns 180 degrees to the opposing player after every move. This option can be turned off. Chess Titans store all game scores of two players.
