In Europe and North America, the typical attire for the bride is formal wear and hood. Usually, in the "white wedding" model, the bride's dress is purchased exclusively for the wedding, and not in a wearable style for the next event. Before, until at least the mid-19th century, the bride generally wore her best dress, any color, or if the bride was rich, she ordered a new dress in her favorite color and was expected to wear it again.
For the first marriage in Western countries, white wedding dresses are usually worn, a tradition started by Queen Victoria, who wore a white court dress for her marriage. Regardless of the color in most Asian cultures the wedding dress is very decorative, often covered with embroideries, beads or gold. In some traditions the bride may wear more than one garment, this is true for example in Japan, part of India, and, in ancient times, in some parts of the Arab world.
Certain jewelry styles are often associated with bridal attire, such as wedding rings in most Western cultures, or chura (red and white bracelets) in the Punjabi Sikh culture. The Hindu bride is presented with mangalsutra during the wedding ceremony, which has much of the same meaning as wedding rings in other parts of the world. Wedding jewelry has traditionally been used to show the value of the bride's dowry.
In addition to the dress, the bride often wears a veil and carries a bouquet of flowers, a small heritage such as a lucky coin, prayer book, or other sign. In Western countries, the bride may wear "something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue"; Bridal bags (or money bags) are also common.
History
The term the bride appears in combination with many words, some of which are out of date. So "bridegroom" is a newly married man, and "bridal-bell", "bridal banquet" is the equivalent of an old wedding-bell, wedding breakfast. The "bride" (from Bride-ale ), originally the wedding itself, has grown into a common descriptive adjective, wedding ceremony . The bride-cake comes from Roman confarreatio , a form of high-class marriage, an important feature of a ceremony that eats with cake pairs made of salt, water and spelled flour, and is held by the bride of three wheat ears, the symbol of many.
Eating the cake is no longer popular, but the wheat ear survives. In the Middle Ages they were donned or carried by the bride. Finally it became the custom for young girls to gather outside the church's porch and throw the grain of wheat over the bride, and after that there was a grain seizure. In time the grain of wheat begins to be cooked into a thin, dried biscuit, which breaks above the bride's head, as is the custom in Scotland today, the oatmeal cake used. During Elizabeth's rule, these biscuits began to take the shape of a small rectangular cake made of eggs, milk, sugar, raisins, and spices. Every wedding guest has at least one, and the whole collection is thrown at the bride as soon as she passes the threshold. Those who light up on their heads or shoulders are most valuable by the scramblers. Finally, these pastries are combined into a large cake that satisfies the fullness of pasta and almond ornaments during Charles II's time. But even today in a rural parish, eg Notts north, wheat is thrown over the bridal couple with cries of "Bread for life and pudding forever," expressive of the desire that newlyweds may always prosper. The throwing of rice, a very ancient custom but slower than wheat, is a symbol of hope that the bride can bear fruit.

In Christianity, the bride, the wife of the Lamb, or the Bride of Christ, is a term that generally describes the spiritually sponsored Church (follower of Christ) with Jesus Christ. This term is found in related verses in the Bible which describe a woman, in the Gospels, Revelation, Letters and related verses in the Old Testament. Sometimes, the Bride is implied by calling Jesus the Bridegroom of the Church. For over 1500 years, the Church has been identified as a bride engaged to Christ. However, there are several examples of interpretations of use that vary from church to church. Some believe that it always refers to the church.
