Series overview

Season 1

The first season followed Norma and Norman Bates when they bought the motel after Norman's father died. On one of the first nights of two motel owners, the former owner enters and attacks Norma sexually. Norman dropped the assailant, and Norma stabbed him to death. He decided it was best not to call the police and cover up the murder. He and Norman threw the corpse away. He made it hard to cover up by keeping the victim's belt. When the city sheriff and his deputy noticed that a man had been lost, Norma and Norman had to keep them from digging too far.

Season 2

The second season follows the murder of Norman's teacher, because his mysterious past is revealed. Meanwhile, Norma finds herself making a dangerous decision to keep the motel operating and prevent the next shortcut. Bradley's search for his father's killer leads to the extreme, and Dylan learns the disturbing truth about his parents.

Season 3

The third season focuses on Deni Waning's rejection of what happens to her, and her length will go to control her vulnerable soul. The dramatic events of last season made Norma more aware of her child's mental frailty and fear of her ability. Meanwhile, Sheriff Romero begins to distance himself from the Bates family after he suspects Norma lied to him about her husband's death.

Season 4

The fourth season follows Norma as he becomes increasingly afraid of Norman, trying hard to find the professional help he needs. This complicates their previously unbreakable confidence when Norman struggles to keep his grip on reality. Meanwhile, Sheriff Romero once again found himself drawn into the lives of Norma and Norman. He agreed to marry Norma because his insurance would allow him to place Norman in an expensive psychiatric hospital. However, his generosity backfired when Norman learned about marriage. Norman hated Romero for coming between him and his mother and at one point threatened the sheriff with an ax.

Season 5

The fifth season begins two years after Norma's death. The public is happy and well-adjusted, Norman fights at home, where his outage increases and "Mom" threatens to take over completely. Meanwhile, Dylan and Emma find themselves drawn back into Norman's world, and Romero is hungry for revenge against his stepson, Norman.
