Roland the Farter (known in contemporary notes as Roland le Fartere , Roulandus le Fartere or Roland le Petour ) is a medieval writer who lived in the 12th century England. He was given a Hemingstone manor in Suffolk and 12 hectares (30 acres) of land in return for his services as a clown to King Henry II. Every year he is obliged to do "Unum saltum et siffletum et unum bumbulum" (one leap, one whistle, and one fart) for the King's palace on Christmas day.
Roland is registered in the thirteenth-century England Liber Feodorum ( Cost Book ).
