Viera (pronounced/vyeh-rah/) is a parent-planned community located in the central coastal area of ââBrevard County, Florida. It is part of an unrelated part adjacent to the Melbourne, Florida area. For census purposes, it is divided between the Eastern Viera Census Places and the Western Viera. At the 2010 census, Viera East had a population of 10,757, while Viera West had a population of 6,641.

The Viera region is bordered 8 miles (13 km) along Interstate 95 starting from exit 195 and extending south 3 miles (5 km) outside exit 191. It covers 14,500 hectares (5,900 ha). About half of this has been set aside for conservation.

History
The land was developed by Viera Company, a subsidiary of A. Duda and Sons. On 4 August 1989, the land was damaged for the new Viera community, a name derived from viera meaning "faith" in Slovak in honor of the patriarch of the family Andrew Duda, who emigrated from what became Slovakia in 1912 Beginning in 1990, the Duda family owned properties along I-95 and began transforming Cocoa Ranch into a new city with a mix of land use, including various types of housing, offices, medical and industrial parks, shopping centers and recreational facilities. The family has donated a total area of ââ622.7 hectares (252.0 hectares) to various organizations. Here is a list of donated acres, years, and what land was donated to:

The Viera Development of Regional Impact (DRI) was approved in 1990 for approximately 3,000 hectares (1,200 hectares), which forms Viera East. In 1992 construction began on what would become Viera East. In 1995, an expansion of 6,000 acres (2,400 ha) was approved by Brevard County as a Substantial Deviation to the original DRI. Applications were made for Deviation Deviation # 2 in 2006 and approved for planning community expansion. The 11,567-acre (4,681Ã, ha) expansion will cover 5,112 hectares (2,069 ha) to be set aside as managed protected land, conservation areas, parks and open spaces.
Viera Wilderness Park (5,112 hectares (2,069 ha) will be set aside for expansion) will join Lake Lake Conservation Area covering 44,000 hectares (18,000 hectares), which includes 14,000 acres (5,700Ã, ha) of purchased Cocoa Ranch. by St River Water Management District Johns in 1999. Additional acres will be set aside in the development area to function as conservation, parks and open spaces so that the total protected land that is managed actively in the expansion area becomes more than 50 percent of the total area.
Economy
Since its founding in 1989, Viera has attracted over 350 businesses (over 3 million square feet of mixed use, office and retail space) and more than 10,000 permanent jobs, including financial services, health care, other professional services and retail companies.
A. Duda & amp; Sons, Inc. continues to raise livestock in the West Viera property as well as parts of the River Lake Conservation Area.
Retail
The Avenue Viera, an open-air shopping center, opened in 2004. It contains over 100 shops/restaurants with 600,000 square feet of retail/restaurant space and multiplex cinema. There are several nationally recognized chain of restaurants and department stores.
Industry
Viera has several organizations, government and nonprofit offices, such as Brevard Zoo, Brevard Public Schools, and Viera Hospital.
The first Park-N-Ride, in unrelated Brevard County, lies there.
Government office
The district administrative complex is located in Viera 1 mile (1.6 km) west of Interstate 95. Offices and government offices include Bregara County County Board of Commissioners, District Manager, Planning and Development, Housing and Human Services, Public Works, Public Safety, Health Service and Clinics in Viera, Children's Medical Services, Utility Services, and Metropolitan Planning Organization. The Harry T. and Harriette V. Moore Justice Center and the Brevard County School Board offices are also located within the administrative complex.
Community events
The property developer, Viera Company, hosts events annually both for the community and for the Central Brevard area. Some major events include Light Up Viera Holiday Parade, Great American Celebration July 4th, and Viera Wetlands Nature Festival.
National charities such as Heart Heart Association Heart Walk, Creating Strides Against Breast Cancer, March of Dimes Walk for Babies, Devereux Foundation, St. Baldrick's Foundation, and Scarecrow Stroll & amp; Harvest Festival has achieved success in society.

Viera Community is located in a part unrelated to Brevard County, District 4. County commissioner for this district is Curt Smith. The Brevard County School Board representative is Matt Susin (also District 4).
Community Development District and Community Master
Viera East Community Association (VECA) is a non-profit company formed in accordance with the Viera East Community Declaration and Master Association for Viera East. It is managed by five members of the Board of Directors and is responsible for the maintenance and maintenance of hardscaping, landscaping and irrigation systems on most highways throughout Viera East, and on certain parks and recreational facilities. VECA is also responsible for overseeing the Modifications Review Committee (MRC).
Viera's East Community Development District is a local government entity, a special purpose adopted by Chapter 190 of the Florida Statute as amended, and developed by Brevard County regulations as an alternative method of planning, obtaining, operating and maintaining improvements across communities in the planned community.

Golf
Duran Golf Club, an 18-hole golf course, opened in 2005. Located in Central Viera. It covers 130 hectares (53 ha) in the Lake Fairway neighborhood in Viera and Wyndham in Duran. The West Indies-style Clubhouse of 10,000 square feet (930 m 2 ) contains a restaurant. The center covers an area of ââ30 acres (12 acres) with various exercises, green targets, pitching green, putting green, and 9 holes par 3 course which can be played at night.
Viera East Golf Club opened in 1993 and is located in Viera East. It winds through the neighborhoods of Parkstone, Oakefe, Canterbury, Brightwood, Addington, Durban Gardens, Blackheath, Aberdeen, Woodhall, Collingtree, Stratford Place and Ashton.
Baseball
USSSA (the Association of Special Sport of the United States) moved to the Space Coast Stadium in 2017. USSSA will primarily focus on amateur sports involving youth baseball, and youth and adult balls.
By 2018, Viera is scheduled to host the location of the year's installment of the Women's Baseball World Cup.
Garden
- Viera Regional Park
Built on 125 hectares of land (51 acres) donated by Viera Company, Viera Regional Park has a community center (18,000 square feet), a fully-fledged playground, three tot lot, 8 acre (3.2 ha) lake, , two bright Little League baseball fields, two major league baseball pitches, eight soccer fields (2 lit), tennis and basketball courts, and two youth softball ball fields.
Suntree-Viera Lightning Mighty Mites, a soccer team under 10, won the Defense-Defense National Championship in 2009.
In 2010, two football clubs with a total of 1,200 members competed for space on recreational land.
The Suntree-Viera Lightning Bantams, a Under-13 Football Competition team, won the OD National Championship in January 2011. In 2016, the SVYFL Hawks (14 years and under) won the National Youth Football Championship.
- Community park
Viera has six community parks and a number of pocket gardens in every neighborhood. In Viera East, Clubhouse Park, Suseda Park, and Woodside Park have children's playgrounds along with adjacent trail systems. In Central Viera, Eastwind Park, Westwind Park, and North Solerno Park, there is a modern playground with a swimming pool for the local neighborhood community. A dog park is also located in Addison Village just south of Quest Elementary.
Recreation and tourism â ⬠<â â¬
The Brevard Zoo and the 200-acre (81Ã, ha) Ritch Grissom Memorial Wetlands of Viera is located at the south end of the community. Viera has more than 100 miles (160 km) of tracks across the community and several running/running events are held throughout the year including Christmas Fit-mas, 3k Run Run Santa 1 Mile, 5k Super Hero, East My Crust 5k, Komodo Krawl 3k in the Garden Beast Brevard and Excalibur 10 Miler and Dragon Slayer 2 Miler.
Education
Viera has three primary schools, three feeder schools, a charter school, and a high school. Plans for the Viera high school have been included with the DRI plan for the community. Each Viera school has received an "A" rating since the Florida assessment process begins, and each has received other national and national awards as well.

Public security
The local Brevard County Fire Rescue Station 47 is a District-Specific Response Truck that handles HAZMAT incidents across the region. In 2011, the district opened Station # 48. This station is the only special operations/dangerous materials that respond and training stations in the region. # 48 is also a place for memorial 9-11 which includes a piece of steel from falling World Trade Center towers.
