Roy Levesta Jones Jr. (born January 16, 1969) is a former professional boxer, boxing commentator, boxing trainer, rapper, and American actor who has dual American and Russian citizenship. He competed in boxing from 1989 to 2018, and is a six-time world champion in four heavyweights, having held titles in the middle, super-middleweight, heavyweight and heavyweight classes; and is the only boxer in history to start his professional career in the light middle class and continue to win the heavyweight title. As an amateur he represented the United States at the 1988 Summer Olympics, winning a silver medal in the light-middleweight division.
Jones is considered by many to be one of the best boxers of all time, pounds for the pound, and left his mark in sports history when he won the WBA heavyweight title in 2003, becoming the former middleweight champion to win a heavyweight title in 106 years. Prior to that, in 1999, he became the undisputed light-heavy champion by bringing together WBA, WBC and IBF titles. During his heyday, Jones is known for having exceptional hand, athletic, movement, and reflex speed.
In February 2018, Jones held the record of most wins in a lightweight heavyweight title fight united in boxing history, at the age of twelve. Amateur career
Jones won the 1984 National Olympic Games in 1984 at the weight division of 119 pounds (54 kg), 1986 United States National Gold Glove at 139bb (63kg) division, and US National Golden Glove in 1987 at £ 156 (71kg) division. As an amateur, he ended his career with a 121-13 record.
Jones represented the United States at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, where he won a silver medal. He dominated his opponents, never losing a lap on his way to the final. His participation in the final was greeted with controversy when he lost a 3-2 decision to South Korean Park Si-Hun fighters despite having beaten Park for three rounds, landing 86 strokes to Park 32. Allegedly, Park himself apologized to Jones afterwards and the referee told Jones that he was surprised by the judge's decision. One judge soon admitted that the decision was wrong and the three judges who voted against Jones were finally suspended. Marv Albert, calling a US television showdown for NBC, reported judges from Hungary and the Soviet Union scored in support of Jones, while people from Morocco and Uruguay liked Park. The fifth judge, from Uganda, scored the bout as a draw, leaving the result to be decided on the basis of other criteria.
The IOC's official investigation ending in 1997 found that, although the offending judges had been won and eaten by South Korean organizers, there was no evidence of corruption in boxing events in Seoul. Jones was awarded the Val Barker trophy, as the best style boxer of the 1988 game, the only third and to this day last time in the history of the competition when the award did not go to one of the gold medal winners. The incident caused Olympic organizers to set up a new appraisal system for Olympic boxing.

Personal life
Jones was born in Pensacola, Florida, to two very different parents. Her mother, Carol, is warm and relaxed, while her father, Roy Sr., is very much like the Marine Drill Instructor who respects her son. A Vietnamese veteran decorated, a former combat fighter and retired aircraft engineer who has been farming pig, Roy Sr. being tough with his son early on, ridiculing the child, "fighting" him, angry at him, yelling at him and abusing him, often for 20 minutes each time. This behavior never really changes; if anything becomes more brutal as Roy Jr grows. Many people would call Roy's father's treatment as harassment, and he believes he has a good reason for it: make Roy Jr tough enough to become a champion. In this pursuit, he is relentless and Roy Jr. living in constant fear of his father's verbal and physical violence against him.
Jones describes his childhood at Sports Illustrated: "After a while I do not care about sickness or death anymore, I'm in pain all day, every day, I'm so scared of my dad He's going to get on his truck and start looking- look for something I have done wrong There is no way out, no excuses, no way out of anything.... Getting 'hurt or dead' may be better than the life I'm living...... Used to think about killing myself. "
Roy Sr. running his own boxing gym, where he devotes all his time and financial resources. He offers referrals to many youth and leads many of them away from problems. Roy Sr. do everything possible to expand the program and help more children. But against his own son, he was merciless, making Roy Jr on the verge of exhaustion, yelling at him in front of all the other fighters and attacking him. "
Using his birds as a drawing for his own difficulties, Jones says in a Sports Illustrated article: "I spent my whole life in my father's cage I can never be 100 percent of who I am until I leave him. because he, nobody bothered me, I will never face something stronger and harder than what I already have. "
However, his father's violence has paid off well - after some early successes in his career including the 1984 National Junior Olympic triumph of 1984 - Jones's hard work began to kill him. Not only did he gain fame, but wealth - according to research, Jones assets exceeded $ 45 million in 2012.
Former Heavyweight Champion George Foreman said Jones, "hit like heavyweight and move like a lightweight.".
Boxer Montell Griffin, who faces Jones twice at £ 175 and argues with Floyd Mayweather Jr. at 140 pounds, said: "Floyd has no comparison as far as speed, Roy is much faster."

Expert opinion Boxing magazine editor, Bert Sugar, was given on Jones' website: "He has the fastest hand in boxing with lightning fast movement and explosive force in both hands." After Mike MacCallum lost the World Boxing Council heavyweight crown to Roy Jones in a 1996 unanimous decision, he called Jones "the greatest fighter of all time".
On August 19, 2015, Roy Jones met with Vladimir Putin in Sevastopol, Crimea, to ask for Russian-American double citizenship.
