Histori

1990s

The company was founded by Peter van Stolk in 1986 as a beverage distributor in Western Canada. Until 1995, the company distributed other beverage lines such as AriZona Iced Tea and Thomas Kemper sodas in Western Canada.

2000s

Since the company gained significant knowledge about the beverage industry, he decided to enter the market with an alternative drink as Urban Juice & amp; Soda Company . In 2000, more than 85% of its revenue came from the Jones Soda brand, and the company officially changed its name to Jones Soda and moved its headquarters from Vancouver to Seattle. In November 2006, Jones Soda announced that it would replace high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) - used by most of the national brands in the United States in carbonated soft drinks - in its products with cane sugar (in the form of inverted syrup). On January 22, 2007, Jones Pure Cane Soda was launched in a 12-ounce can. In April 2007, all the company's products switched to sugarcane, except for its energy drinks, which changed that fall.

In 2007, the company announced a $ 11.6 million loss, due to its expansion into the market of cans of soda, which had high entry barriers against Coca-Cola and Pepsi mass production.

In 2008, Jones Soda announced a second-quarter loss and downsizing 42 employees (40% of its workforce), cut costs slightly above $ 2.6 million annually.

2010s

In March 2010, Jones Soda agreed to allow rival Reed, Inc. to buy the company with sharp discounts, though later in the month Jones withdrew from the deal. The company was named former president of Talking Rain, William Meissner as President and CEO.

In June 2010, the company announced a distribution deal with Walmart and $ 10 million in financing from Glengrove Small Cap Value Ltd.

In June 2011, Jones moved from South Lake Union headquarters to a building in Pioneer Square across from CenturyLink Field.

In 2012, Jennifer Cue was hired as CEO.

In the spring of 2015, Jones moved from the Pioneer Square building to a larger room at 66 S Hanford St # 150, Seattle, WA.

Drink lines

Jones Soda was developed in 1995 and introduced in 1996 with seven flavors: Orange, Cherry, Lemon, Lime, Strawberry, Raspberry and Wine in 12oz glass bottles. The use of photos on labels is a marketing tactic designed to create "emotional attachment" with brands.

To help get into the soft drink market, Jones pursued the so-called "alternative distribution strategy" to attract consumers, sell soft drinks in places like clothing and music stores, tattoos and salon punctures, candy shops, and sporting goods stores. Finally Jones Soda is available nationally in larger chain stores such as 7-Eleven, Safeway, Hy-Vee, Albertsons, Walmart, Winn-Dixie, and Barnes & amp; Noble. Recent business distribution transactions have expanded the company, putting some basic flavors in stores like Meijer, World Market, and Panera [1] . On March 17, 2004, announced an agreement to distribute Jones Soda in more than 3900 Starbucks locations in the United States, although Starbucks does not supply Jones anymore in the United States (still at Starbucks locations in Canada). On October 12, 2004, Jones Soda introduced 12oz cans for the first time with an exclusive distribution deal with Target, although other stores (including Kmart locations, Food Pyramid, and Albertsons) are now also selling cans. Jones Soda is also sold on Ruby Tuesday.

Since seven original flavors were introduced, 25 additional flavors were made:

There are also special desserts available, including flavors such as Apple Pie, Blueberry Pie, and others.

Slim and Sugar Free

In January 1999, Jones introduced a line of "slim" soft drinks, but stopped them in 2003 and supported the sugar-free line. The sugar-free formula contains the sukralose of the Splenda brand and acesulfame potassium, but without aspartame. Free Sugar Flavors today include: Cola, Black Cherry, Cream Soda, Green Apple, and Root Beer. Retirees include: Ginger Ale and Pink Grapefruit.

Although they are not labeled sugar free, four flavors are considered "Mid-Calorie": Twisted Lime, Watermelon, Tangerine, and Blueberry. This flavor is sweetened with Splenda, but still includes 21 grams of sugar (compared to about 45-50 grams in regular soda).

WhoopAss and Jones Energy

In October 1999, Jones introduced Jones Soda WhoopAss (later shortened to "WhoopAss"). Jones Energy is the second to enter the energy drink market and incorporates three flavors in 8.4oz cans: Mixed Berry, Lemon Lime, and Orange. Big Jones Energy and Sugar Free Jones Energy (both 16oz can) are also available. Jones Energy was suspended at the end of 2008.

Jones Juice and Naturals

Jones Juice debuted in 2001 with flavors such as Limes with Orange, Berry White, Dave, Black, Purple Carrot, and Fu Cran Fu. "Dave" is the tea name for Dave Dafoe, founder of Flavorman, the company that developed all the original flavors of the Jones brand. The line was renamed Jones Naturals in 2002 and later expanded to include Betty, Bananaberry, D'Peach Mode, Bada Bing !, Bohemian Raspberry and Strawberry Manilow. Naturals have no wealth under the hat; instead, they have cartoon-like symbols. Naturals are sold in 20oz glass bottles, making them almost twice as big as the Jones Soda. Naturals contain between 1 and 10 percent of juice depending on taste. AÃÆ'â € ¡AI = MC2, Bada Bing !, Berry White, Betty, Black, Dave, Fu Cran Fu, Purple Carrots, and Momegranate You have since retired.

Jones Organics

In 2005, Jones announced a new line in the series: Jones Organics. The mixture consists of six different tea-based flavors - two each white tea, green tea and red tea. The bottles have a clean and minimal label (designed by Jason Gomez), compared to the customized photographs. The right mix is: Strawberry White Tea, White Tea Cherries, Green Tea Berry, Mandarin Green Tea, Tropical Red Tea, and Peach Red Tea; Each Organic is certified by the USDA. This marks one of the few times that rooibos-based drinks have been available outside, for example, a tea shop.

Jones came out with a 24C sports drink in 2006. They are water perfumed with vitamins that come in 20oz plastic bottles. Taste includes Berry Pomegranate, Blueberry Grape, Apple Cranberry, Kiwi Dragonfruit, Lemon Lime, Mandarin Orange, Peach Mango, Red Grapefruit, Strawberry Lemonade, and Tropical Citrus.

GABA

It is produced in four flavors, Fuji Apple Tea-Juice, Grapefruit Tea-Juice, Lemon Honey Tea, and Nectarine Tea-Juice. The GABA line is now listed in the list of retired products.

Jones Zilch

Released in the fourth quarter of 2009, Zilch is an aspartame free sugar-free soft drink sweetened with Splenda. The flavors are pomegranate, cream soda, vanilla bean, black cherry, and cola.

Available flavors include: Green Apple, Fufu Berry, Orange & amp; Cream, Strawberry Lime, Cream Soda, Bacon, and Blue Bubble Gum.

In early 2005, Jones Soda entered the market of "frozen novelty" with Jones Frozen Soda Pops. They are available in Green Apple, Berry Lemonade, and Cherry Soda flavors. Jones Frozen Soda Pops is part of a three-year license agreement with Kroger, and is currently unavailable.

Carbonated candy

On October 19, 2005, a press statement was released in conjunction with a Jones Soda license agreement with Big Sky Brands to produce a soda "flavored soda" candy. At that time, they announced that three different candy flavors of "Jones Soda Carbonated Candy" were Berry Lemonade, Fufu Berry, and Green Apple. The product was released in the United States in 2006. In 2007, the lineup was upgraded to six flavors, three new flavors were Orange & Cream, Cream Soda, and M.F. Wine.

Jones expanded its carbon candy line in 2006 to include "Jones Soda Energy Boosters", which contains Niacin, Vitamin B12, Taurine, and Vitamin B6. The marketing literature says, "1 can of Jones Boosters = 3 Energy Drink Jones".

In 2007, Big Sky Brands announced a contest to include 24 photographs submitted by users from the gloomy and distorted "face cruis" to the new labeling "Jones Soda Carbonated Sours". They entered the market in 2008, initially in three flavors: Electric Lemonade, Limes with Orange and Spiked Punch.

Labels

Jones Soda keeps changing the photos on Soda and Naturals labels. Except for the bottles Root Beer, Vanilla Cola, and Fufu Berry, the pictures are all black and white. The website displays a database of over one million submitted images, as well as a collection of internal archived company records, detailing which images appear when, on what is liked (for image collectors). Customers can also send wealth (similar to fortune cookies) to be printed under bottle caps.

Websites may sometimes require custom themes for photo uploads such as Patriot Photo or Landmark Contests to create a custom collection of labels. Most recently, they have created a Signature series that includes photos and written signatures from Jones Soda Pro Athletes.

myJones

In 1999, Jones began selling myJones through a new section of their website to meet the ever-increasing demands of people who wanted to avoid the photo selection process. myJones is a 12 pack of customizable bottles that can be used by anyone with pictures and messages. The creation process involves uploading images (with up to 50 character photo credit options) and providing customizations (up to 7 lines of 50 characters). The fate under the hat can not be adjusted.

Above the image on the label, the word "I" was added before "Jones Soda Co." to indicate it is adjustable and not purchased in retail. In addition, the barcode is labeled "Not for Sale Back".

Marketing

Instead of television commercials or magazine ads, Jones chose to focus on product placement. Athletes like Benji Weatherley, Matt Hoffman, and Bam Margera, known as Jones Pro Riders, promote Jones by appearing with logos (or often real products) at various shows or on television appearances (During MTV Cribs episode featuring Bam Margera, he opened his refrigerator to reveal some bottles of Jones Soda). Another athlete group, Jones Emerging Athletes, also supports Jones.

Jones also hired two Jones Soda RVs who traveled to the West and East coast of North America "handing out soda and talking to people on the street".

On May 23, 2007, Seattle Seahawks chose Jones Soda as an official soft drink, and its products were sold at Qwest Field from 2007 to 2009 season. During the football season, Jones Soda also produced labeled bottles with photographs of Seahawks players for sale both at football matches and in supermarkets. The Seahawks previously sold soft drinks from The Coca-Cola Company; The Jones Soda Agreement made the first team in the NFL to sign an exclusive deal with a soft drink company other than Coca-Cola or Pepsi. In June 2010, Seahawks broke off their relationship with Jones Soda and announced that they had signed a five-year agreement with Coca-Cola.

On February 12, 2008, Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air announced that they would serve Jones Soda on their flights. This arrangement expires on March 1, 2010, when Alaska and Horizon switch to serving Coca-Cola products. The airline calls customer demand as the reason.

The February/March 2009 issue of soft drink publications, Mutineer Magazine, featured Jones Soda on its cover as well as an in-depth article about the company in the magazine.

Company motto, "Run with your baby... make some changes." appears in most of Jones's products.
