The Boise State-Idaho football competition is a college football competition between the Broncos of Boise State University and Vandal of the University of Idaho in Moscow, just two Division I FBS programs in the state of Idaho. The game is played every year from 1971-2010, and with the exception of the 2001-04 game, the competition is a conference game (Big Sky 1971-95, Big West 1996-2000, and WAC 2005-10). Boise State moved from WAC to Mountain West Conference in 2011 and the competition continues to hiatus, with no future games scheduled today.
The team has been playing for the Gubernatorial Cup since 2001, won by BSU every year. In 2009, the game was broadcast nationally for the first time at ESPNU from Bronco Stadium in Boise. The 40th game of the competition in 2010 was broadcast live on prime time on ESPN2 on Friday, November 12th from Kibbie Dome in Moscow.

Game pertama
The first meeting was 47 years ago in 1971, the opening night of the season game at the Bronco Stadium of the year in Boise on 11 September. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Moscow, but due to bad weather in the spring, the new Vandal Stadium is one month behind schedule.
Idaho rented the BSU stadium and was a "home" team, but "visiting" the Broncos built a 28-7 lead at half time and pulled off a convincing 42-14 foul before 16.123 for instant rivalry. Tony Knap's Broncos went 10-2 in 1971 and won the Camellia Bowl, but their two defeats were both in the conference. Idaho went 8-3 for the best record for now in school history; Don Robbins' 1971 Vandal is a Big Sky champion, winning eight consecutive games, and has three players selected in the 1972 NFL Draft.
The second game was played at the end of the 1972 season, again in Boise before 14.516 on Saturday after Thanksgiving. Vandals led 7-0 in the first half but Boise State responded in the third quarter with three goals. Idaho again performed a 75-yard interception for touchdown and a new-back-up quarterback vandal ran for a touchdown with three minutes left to pull in one point; Another run on a two-point conversion gave Idaho a win and equalized the series in one game each. It was the first Big Sky home loss for the Broncos, which dropped to 7-4. Idaho finished 1972 at 4-7.
The Bronco Stadium expanded after the 1974 season and has the highest seating capacity in the Big Sky Conference. The competition contest with Idaho in Boise from 1976 to 1994 was the most attended conference of players for the seasons.

The State-Idaho Boise Competition has been dominated by dappled. Underdog underdog Boise State College of Division II easily won the first game of Division I Idaho in the season opener in 1971. It was Boise State's first game against the University Division opponents. BSU became a university in 1974 and the Big Sky Conference moved to the new Division I-AA in 1978. The BSU was 8-2-1 in the first 11 meetings, including five consecutive 1977-81. Idaho soon followed with twelve consecutive wins from 1982-1993, and won 15 of 17 before Boise State started its 12th successive win in 1999, where the BSU had dominated the Vandals. The combined score for the latest dozen games is 613-213, the average winning margin of BSU is more than 33 points per game, ranging from 14 to 58 points. Boise State has won 13 of the 15 games over Idaho since both teams climbed into the I-A Division (now FBS) in 1996.
Governor Trophy
When Big West dropped football after the 2000 season, Boise State and Idaho joined various conferences. The Broncos moved to WAC, while Idaho joined the distant Sun Belt as a "football only" member (and remained in the Big West for all other sports). In an effort to maintain intense tight competition, Governor Dirk Kempthorne, a UI alumnus (1975) and former chairman of the student body, commissioned the Governor's Cup, the perimeter trophy awarded to the winning team. Since it started in 2001 for the 31st game, the trophy has not yet traveled, because Boise State has won all ten games. During the four seasons (2001-04) as a non-conference match, it was played at the start of the season. Idaho joined the WAC in 2005 to restore competition to the season-ending conference game. Idaho has never won a trophy; BSU has easily won all ten games played for it. Since the 2010 game, no matches have been scheduled and nothing is scheduled for the near future.
A few months before the team's last meeting in Moscow in 2010, BSU president Bob Kustra expressed his displeasure with Idaho fans' behavior. He told the editorial board of Idaho Statesman that he and his wife are no longer attending a series game in Moscow because Idaho fans have a "wicked, drunk and civic culture not giving our fans the respect that every fan should expect when visiting guests. "Furthermore, a Moscow bar sells" Nasty, inebriated "T-shirts for Idaho fans.
