Charles Franklin Davis (born November 14, 1964) is an American soccer analyst. He is currently an analyst for Fox NFL, with Kevin Burkhardt and Pam Oliver, and contributing weekly "Power Rankings" at Foxsports.com. Along with Brandon Gaudin, he is an analyst for the Madden NFL series. He is also an analyst for NFL Network, and has previously worked with TBS, ESPN, CBS, The Golf Channel and Sun Sports (now Fox Sports Sun).
Davis was a formidable defender for Tennessee Volunteers from 1982 to 1986, although he was not included in the 1987 NFL Draft. He earned a master's degree in history while a student in Tennessee. She lives in Windermere, Florida, with his wife Lisa, a graduate of the University of Tennessee law school. He has a son, Parker, who is on the basketball team at Rollins College, and a daughter of Taylor, who works in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles.

Davis was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee, but he and his family moved to New Paltz, New York, when he was two years old. His father, Franklin, is a high school football and basketball coach. Davis plays football, basketball and baseball at New Paltz High School. Charles plays as a quarterback, defensive back, and kicker for high school football teams. A dual-threat quarterback, during his senior year he graduated for 742 yards and six goals, and he ran for 738 yards and eleven goals. He also listed four interception on defense, and completed 15 of the 20 extra points and one field goal as a kicker. He gets the All-State in honor of his junior and senior seasons.

Davis chose to play college football at the University of Tennessee, partly because it was a school where one of her childhood heroes, Condredge Holloway, had played. After redshirting during his first season in 1982, he made it into the starting lineup during the 1983 season. He had interceptions against Pittsburgh and LSU earlier in the year, and a key interception that helped preserve Tennessee's 7-0 victory against Rutgers. He enrolled 12 tackles in a 41-34 Vols victory over Alabama, and had 5 tackles and restored his team's defeat to Auburn. He finished the season with 58 tackles (39 solos) and 4 interceptions of leading teams.
During Tennessee's victory over Washington State at the start of the 1984 season, Davis suffered a fractured fibula. Though he plays through the pain and completes the game, he misses the next three games. He counted 8 tackles in Tennessee 28-27 win over Alabama, and has interceptions at the end of the season against Kentucky and Vanderbilt. He finished the season with 34 tackles (22 solos), 4 pass defensed, and 2 interceptions.
Davis was named for the Preseason All-SEC team at the start of a memorable 1985 season in Tennessee. For this year, he enrolled 59 tackles (33 solos), forced 2 fumbles, and 2 pass defensed. In Tennessee's 35-7 victory over Miami at Sugar Bowl 1986, Davis had 6 tackles and interception.
Davis was re-named to the Preseason All-SEC team for the 1986 season. In the third quarter of a close game against New Mexico, he intercepted the bait and returned it 55 yards for the goal. He finished the year with 83 tackles (52 solos) and 4 interceptions. He was named for the SEC Academic Honor Roll at the end of the season.
Davis graduated with a degree in political science before his senior year with the Tennessee football team, and later earned a master's degree in history.
Careers
Recorded in 1987, Davis signed with Dallas Cowboys as a free agent, but did not make the team. Instead, he turned to sports. One of the first games he mentioned was the 1987 Orange-and-White Game of the University of Tennessee (an annual battle played at the end of spring training), where he worked alongside the old Network-by-play commentator John Ward.
In 1996, Davis became the manager of sports operations in the multipurpose field and sports program in the field house at World Wide Sports Disney. In October 1998, Davis became the first African-American to become the director of the PGA event tournament, when he led the Disney World Golf Classic.
Davis worked on 740 Team radio station in Orlando, Florida, co-hosting Clark and Davis, a morning show along with local sports announcer Pat Clarke (along with special guests including "The Pastor" Sean Fitzgerald, Glenn Dehmer and Steve Gunter) from July 2000 to July 2002. During that same period, he worked as a sideline reporter during Jefferson SEC's Game of the Week, and co-hosted the Sunshine Network Night sporting event, Sunshine Network Live. He called the Football League Arena for the AFL at NBC from 2003 to 2004. In basketball, Davis worked as a side reporter for CBS coverage of the NCAA Men's Tournament in 2001 and 2002. He is also a frequent commentator on The Golf Channel, appearing on programs like < i> Audience Forums and Gray Goose 19th Hole .
Davis joined Fox as an analyst in 2006. He called the 2007 BCS National Championship Games with Barry Alvarez and Thom Brennaman, and matches 2008 and 2009 with only Brennaman. He and Brennaman also called Appalachian State upset at Michigan in 2007 on the Big Ten Network.
Davis is featured in the exclusive NFL Network coverage of the Senior Bowl and NFL Scouting Combine. Following the NFL Scouting Combine, Davis is an analyst at Path to the Draft , which provides an in-depth analysis of prospective design options and looks at every NFL team's needs during the off season with hosts Paul Burmeister and Mike Mayock. From 2007 to 2009, Davis is an analyst at NFL Network's College Football Now, an event that brings fans daily dose of spotlight football matches, news and analysis. In addition to his work at the studio at NFL Network, Davis also served as a game analyst for the NFL Network broadcast of the Texas Bowl 2007. From 2007-08, Davis served as an analyst for preseason schedules for Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Davis joined the NFL on Fox postgame show in October 2008, appearing alongside Jimmy Johnson and Terry Bradshaw. She performed with Chris Rose, Barry Switzer, and Jimmy Johnson on December 7, 2008 for the results BCS showed. For the 2013 NFL season, Fox paired Davis with Gus Johnson on regional broadcast. He also mentioned the preseason game of the Atlanta Falcons with Tim Brant and earlier, Vince Cellini.
In 2014, Davis joined Bob Papa to comment on the game for Super Bowl XLVIII for the World Feed NFL Films. In 2015, Davis returns to Fox to join Thom Brennaman and Tony Siragusa in the broadcast.
In 2016, Davis and Brandon Gaudin (who also called Big 10 college Football and also selected the NFL game) became the new commentator for Madden's hit franchise, debuting at Madden NFL 17 Phil Simms and Jim Nantz as the men in the box. Both continue as commentators for Madden NFL 18 .
Starting the 2017 NFL season, Davis will be part of team number 2 Fox with Kevin Burkhardt and Pam Oliver.
